First Gen Latinos in college

First Gen Latinos in college

The number of Hispanic people ages 18 to 24 enrolled in college increased to 2.4 million in 2021, up from 1.2 million in 2005 (U.S. Census Bureau, 2023).

These students often come from families where mental health may be stigmatized or even viewed as being “weak”.

These students face a lot of stress not only with school, some have jobs, worry about immigration status of self or parents or feel institutionally oppressed.

Therapy is a safe space where you can share personal information and concerns about your own life, your struggles and concerns without worrying about bias or judgement.

Therapist’s   Role

The therapist is a person who will provide you with a listening ear and have an unbiased opinion about whatever you may bring to the session. The therapist will provide you with tools to help regulate and process your emotions, as well as give you tips and coping skills.
